The State Experimental Forestry Institution "Smorgon Experimental Forestry" is part of the Grodno State Industrial Forestry Association, located in the north-eastern part of the Grodno region on the territory of the Smorgon and Oshmyany districts, and borders on the Ostrovets and Myadel forestries in the north, and on the Ivyevsky forestry in the south, in the west with Lithuania, in the east - with Vileika and Molodechensky forestries. The forestry was organized in 1939, its center used to be in the town of Oshmyany, and the forestry itself was called Oshmyany. It mainly included forests that were located within the former borders of the Oshmyany region, which at that time was part of the former Molodechno region. In 1959, in connection with the abolition of this region, the forestry became part of the Grodno regional forestry department. In 1961, his office was moved to the city of Smorgon, and the forestry was renamed Smorgon. In 1966, the Ostrovets forestry was separated from the Smorgon forestry.
